OPGW (Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire) is a dual function cable integrating optical fibers within overhead ground wires for high voltage transmission lines. It serves as both a lightning shield for power conductors and a communication medium, eliminating the need for separate ground wire and fiber installations. This cable features stainless steel tubes housing fibers, surrounded by aluminum clad steel or aluminum alloy wires for mechanical strength and electrical conductivity. Ideal for 110kV to 500kV power grids, it supports long span deployments exceeding 250 meters while ensuring synchronized data and power infrastructure.
